LCD/Memory

Sharp introduces a circular 1-inch (2.5 cm) diameter Memory LCD which is particularly suitable for low-power, wrist-worn applications.

Thanks to integrated memories for images, Sharp Memory LCDs need less than one percent of the power required by conventional TFT LCDs. Sharp has now expanded its portfolio of ultra-low power displays with the addition of three new models.

Hamburg, 08 December 2011 – Sharp is getting ready to start the new year with three new models from its range of Memory LCDs. This means the portfolio of ultra-low power displays will now include 13 different types with diagonals of 1.17" (2.97 cm) to 6.02" (15.3 cm).

New type of system LCDs with built-in memory capability in each pixel cuts down power consumption by factor 130 compared to standard LCDs of equal size.

Hamburg, 15 June 2009 – Imagine a display memorizing the image it shows so only pixels have to be rewritten which content changes from frame to frame. Exactly such a display has recently been invented by Sharp based on the company's proprietary Continuous Grain Silicon technology.
