New line-up of CCD models with industry-leading high-sensitivity
Hamburg, 4.08.2006
With its six newly developed CCD models RJ24xxx and RJ23xx respectively, Sharp is launching a new line-up of high-sensitivity charge-coupled devices (CCD) supporting 1/4-inch and 1/3-inch optical systems. Qualities such as industry-leading high-sensitivity available on the market and low smear make these CCDs ideal for use in a wide range of high-resolution camera applications such as surveillance cameras. Especially in the surveillance camera market, growing awareness regarding security issues has created an ever-increasing demand for higher picture quality.
High sensitivity and less smear
The six new CCD models feature a total pixel count of 470k, 410k, 320k and 270k for the 1/4-type and 470k and 410k for the 1/3-type CCD. Divided into 1/4-inch and 1/3-inch optical systems these modules meet the demands of mainstream high-resolution miniature CCD products such as surveillance cameras. The upcoming CCDs provide a sensitivity of 600mV, 1100mV and 1200mV respectively which is significantly higher as existing models and make shootings of perfect clarity possible. Additionally, the imaging quality has been significantly improved with 15dB less smear than at present to a ratio of -114dB and -120dB.
The new line-up of CCD models provides pin compatibility with existing models which allows an easy upgrade to high-resolution cameras simply by exchanging the CCDs. Sharp offers the CCD modules as complete system solution with CCD, peripheral IC and signal processing LSI.
Availability
Samples of the six new CCD models are now available worldwide via Sharp distribution offices and distribution partners. Sharp already offers the 1/4-type CCD with 320k and 270k in large quantities. Mass production for the remaining 1/4- and 1/3-type CCD models is scheduled to start in Q4 2006.
